Sunshine Playgroup

Welcome to Sunshine Playgroup

Sunshine Playgroup was created to bring families together in a relaxed, welcoming environment where children can learn through curiosity, movement, and meaningful experiences. As a Montessori educator, behavioral coach, and mom, I wanted to create a space where little ones feel safe to explore while parents have the opportunity to slow down, connect with their children, and build relationships with other families.

Each week offers thoughtfully prepared invitations to learn through hands-on activities, practical life experiences, sensory exploration, creative art, music, stories, and outdoor adventures. Rather than following a rigid lesson plan, we follow the children's interests, allowing each child to participate in ways that are meaningful to them.

Playgroup is held at our home, with most sessions taking place in our backyard when the weather permits. If the weather doesn't cooperate, activities may be moved indoors so everyone can continue to enjoy a fun, safe, and engaging experience, or to another day of the week.

Our hope is that every family leaves feeling connected, supported, and excited to return the following week.

Parent and Caregiver Participation

Sunshine Playgroup is not a drop-off program. A parent or caregiver is required to stay with their child for the entire session and actively participate alongside them.

Parents are an essential part of the Sunshine Playgroup experience. By staying engaged, you help create a safe, supportive environment where your child can explore, build confidence, and develop meaningful connections. We encourage caregivers to join in activities, model curiosity, support their child's independence, and enjoy learning together.

There is no formal instruction for parents, but we ask that caregivers remain attentive to their child, provide support when needed, and help maintain a calm, respectful environment for all families. This shared experience also offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents and build a strong, supportive community.

A Morning at Sunshine Playgroup

Each session is designed to support your child’s development while allowing them the freedom to learn at their own pace. Activities are open-ended and child-led, with gentle guidance from Michele, the host, to support exploration and discovery. Outdoor time is an important part of our program, giving children the opportunity to connect with nature and engage their senses in our backyard space, weather permitting.

Our Community

Sunshine Playgroup is more than just a class—it is a community of families growing together. We value connection, kindness, and respect, and we strive to create a space where both children and adults feel welcome and supported.

We look forward to welcoming you and your little one into our Sunshine Playgroup family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sunshine Playgroup a weekly commitment?

No. Sunshine Playgroup is designed to be flexible for families. While you are not required to commit to every week, registration is required at least one week in advance to reserve your child's spot and allow time to prepare materials.

Is this a drop-off program?

No. Sunshine Playgroup is a parent-and-child program, not a drop-off service. A parent or caregiver must remain with their child throughout the session and actively participate in the experience.

What age is Sunshine Playgroup for?

Sunshine Playgroup is designed for children ages 20 months to 4 years, accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

What should my child wear?

Please dress your child in comfortable clothing that can get messy. We enjoy art, sensory activities, and outdoor exploration, so play clothes are encouraged!

What happens if it rains?

Whenever possible, activities will be held outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, activities may be moved indoors or adjusted to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Can siblings attend?

Siblings may attend if they are registered for the playgroup. If you have questions about bringing a younger infant or older sibling, please contact Michele before registering so we can discuss what will work best for your family and the group.

How does payment work?

The cost is $15 per child, per session. Payment is due at the time of registration to reserve your child's spot. Because materials are prepared in advance and space is limited, registration is required at least one week before each session.
